Environmental resource management is the management of the interaction and impact of human societies on the environment.

It is not, as the phrase might suggest, the management of the environment itself.

Environmental resources management aims to ensure that ecosystem services are protected and maintained for future human generations, and also maintain ecosystem integrity through considering ethical, economic, and scientific (ecological) variables.

Environmental resource management tries to identify factors affected by conflicts that rise between meeting needs and protecting resources.

It is thus linked to environmental protection, sustainability and integrated landscape management.

Environmental health is the branch of public health that is concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that may affect human health.

Other terms referring to or concerning environmental health are environmental public health, and public health protection / environmental health protection.

Environmental health and environmental protection are very much related.

Environmental health is focused on the natural and built environments for the benefit of human health, whereas environmental protection is concerned with protecting the natural environment for the benefit of human health and the ecosystem.

Risk management is the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks (defined in ISO 31000 as the effect of uncertainty on objectives) followed by coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of unfortunate events or to maximize the realization of opportunities.

Risk management’s objective is to assure uncertainty does not deflect the endeavor from the business goals.

An entity–relationship model (ER model) describes inter-related things of interest in a specific domain of knowledge.

An ER model is composed of entity types (which classify the things of interest) and specifies relationships that can exist between instances of those entity types.

Social science is a major category of academic disciplines, concerned with society and the relationships among individuals within a society.

It in turn has many branches, each of which is considered a "social science".

The main social sciences include economics, political science, human geography, demography, psychology, and sociology.

In a wider sense, social science also includes some fields in the humanities such as anthropology, archaeology, jurisprudence, history, and linguistics.

The term is also sometimes used to refer specifically to the field of sociology, the original 'science of society', established in the 19th century.
