In psychology, decision-making is regarded as the cognitive process resulting in the selection of a belief or a course of action among several alternative possibilities.

Every decision-making process produces a final choice; it may or may not prompt action.

Decision-making is the process of identifying and choosing alternatives based on the values and preferences of the decision-maker.

Manufacturing is the value added to production of merchandise for use or sale using labour and machines, tools, chemical and biological processing, or formulation.

The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale.

Such finished goods may be sold to other manufacturers for the production of other, more complex products, such as aircraft, household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users and consumers.

Production is a process of workers combining various material inputs and immaterial inputs (plans, know-how) in order to make something for consumption (the output).

It is the act of creating output, a good or service which has value and contributes to the utility of individuals.

The outcome of business operations is the harvesting of value from assets owned by a business.

Assets can be either physical or intangible.

An example of value derived from a physical asset, like a building, is rent.

An example of value derived from an intangible asset, like an idea, is a royalty.

The effort involved in "harvesting" this value is what constitutes business operations cycles.
