PRISM is a secret code name for a program under which the United States National Security Agency (NSA) collects internet communications from at least nine major US internet companies.

The program is also known by the SIGAD.

PRISM collects stored internet communications based on demands made to internet companies such as Google Inc. under Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 to turn over any data that match court-approved search terms.

The NSA can use these PRISM requests to target communications that were encrypted when they traveled across the internet backbone, to focus on stored data that telecommunication filtering systems discarded earlier, and to get data that is easier to handle, among other things.

A mobile application software or mobile app is an application software designed to run on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.

Most such devices are sold with several apps bundled as pre-installed software, such as a web browser, email client, calendar, mapping program, and an app for buying music or other media or more apps.

Some pre-installed apps can be removed by an ordinary uninstall process, thus leaving more storage space for desired ones.

Where the software does not allow this, some devices can be rooted to eliminate the undesired apps.
