ABS-CBN Corporation, commonly known as ABS-CBN, is a Filipino media and entertainment group based in Quezon City.

It is the Philippines' largest entertainment and media conglomerate in terms of revenue, operating income, net income, assets, equity, market capitalization, and number of employees.

ABS-CBN was formed by the merger of Alto Broadcasting System and Chronicle Broadcasting Network.

It was first founded in 1946 by Jewish American electronics engineer James Lindenberg and Judge Antonio Quirino (the brother of the sixth Philippine President Elpidio Quirino) as Bolinao Electronics Corporation (BEC).

BEC would in turn become Alto Broadcasting System or ABS.

Chronicle Broadcasting Network, on the other hand, was founded in 1952 by newspaper mogul Don Eugenio Lopez, Sr.

and his brother Fernando Lopez (the Philippine Vice President for three terms from 1949 to 1953 and 1965 to 1973).

The two companies were merged and incorporated as ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation on February 1, 1967, shortened to simply ABS-CBN Corporation in 2010 to reflect the company's diversification.

The common shares of ABS-CBN was first traded on the Philippine Stock Exchange in July 1992 under the ticker symbol ABS.

Tagalog is an Austronesian language spoken as a first language by a quarter of the population of the Philippines and as a second language by the majority.

Its standardized form, officially named Filipino, is officially the national language, along with English.

The Filipino Channel, commonly known as TFC, is a global subscription television channel based in Redwood City, California with major offices in Australia, Canada, Europe (Hungary and Netherlands), Japan, Middle East, and Manila.

It is owned and operated by the Philippine media conglomerate ABS-CBN.

TFC is available globally on direct-to-home satellite, cable, IPTV, online streaming, video on demand and on other over-the-top content platforms.

TFC is targeted to Filipino expatriates and their families.

TFC was launched on September 24, 1994 becoming the world's first trans-Pacific Asian broadcaster.

The Amp was a satellite and cable television channel, showing music videos, owned by British Sky Broadcasting, and operated on their behalf by Chart Show Channels.

It was operated as part of a trio, with Scuzz and Flaunt as its sister stations.

Pay television, subscription television, premium television, or premium channels are subscription-based television services, usually provided by both analog and digital cable and satellite television, but also increasingly via digital terrestrial and internet television.

Subscription television began in the multi-channel transition and transitioned into the post-network era.

Some parts of the world, notably in France and the United States, have also offered encrypted analog terrestrial signals available for subscription.
