A profession is a vocation founded upon specialized educational training, the purpose of which is to supply disinterested objective counsel and service to others, for a direct and definite compensation, wholly apart from expectation of other business gain.

The term is a truncation of the term "liberal profession", which is, in turn, an Anglicization of the French term "profession libérale".

Originally borrowed by English users in the 19th century, it has been re-borrowed by international users from the late 20th, though the (upper-middle) class overtones of the term do not seem to survive retranslation: "liberal professions" are, according to the European Union's Directive on Recognition of Professional Qualifications (2005/36/EC) "those practiced on the basis of relevant professional qualifications in a personal, responsible and professionally independent capacity by those providing intellectual and conceptual services in the interest of the client and the public".

A society is a group of people involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations.

Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; a given society may be described as the sum total of such relationships among its constituent members.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the AIA offers education, government advocacy, community redevelopment, and public outreach to support the architecture profession and improve its public image, including through public tours, such as the AIA Los Angeles chapter's Home Tour featuring residences designed by David Randall Hertz in Venice, California and others.

The AIA also works with other members of the design and construction team to help coordinate the building industry.

Resources are two types based upon their availability they are renewable and non renewable resources.

Typically resources are materials, energy, services, staff, knowledge, or other assets that are transformed to produce benefit and in the process may be consumed or made unavailable.

Benefits of resource utilization may include increased wealth or wants, proper functioning of a system, or enhanced well being.

From a human perspective a natural resource is anything obtained from the environment to satisfy human needs and wants.

From a broader biological or ecological perspective a resource satisfies the needs of a living organism (see biological resource).
