The results of our semantic analysis are shown below using the website's language.

They are the main concepts covered by jmu.edu.

Each concept has a confidence score. The higher it is, the more important the topic is relative to the page.

Topics
James Madison University Confidence: 93% Arrow up

James Madison University (also known as JMU, The U, Madison, or James Madison) is a public coeducational research university located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, United States.

Founded in 1908 as the State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Harrisonburg, the institution was renamed Madison College in 1938 in honor of President James Madison and then James Madison University in 1977.

The university is situated in the Shenandoah Valley, with the campus quadrangle located on South Main Street.

Shenandoah Valley Confidence: 86% Arrow up

The Shenandoah Valley is a geographic valley and cultural region of western Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia in the United States.

The valley is bounded to the east by the Blue Ridge Mountains, to the west by the eastern front of the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians (excluding Massanutten Mountain), to the north by the Potomac River and to the south by the James River.

The cultural region covers a larger area that includes all of the valley plus the Virginia highlands to the west, and the Roanoke Valley to the south.

It is physiographically located within the Ridge and Valley province and is a portion of the Great Appalachian Valley.

Virginia Confidence: 76% Arrow up

Virginia (officially the Commonwealth of Virginia) is a state located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, as well as in the historic Southeast.

Virginia is nicknamed the "Old Dominion" due to its status as the first colonial possession established in mainland British America, and "Mother of Presidents" because eight U.S. presidents were born there, more than any other state.

The geography and climate of the Commonwealth are shaped by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chesapeake Bay, which provide habitat for much of its flora and fauna.

The capital of the Commonwealth is Richmond; Virginia Beach is the most populous city, and Fairfax County is the most populous political subdivision.

The Commonwealth's estimated population is over 8.3 million.

Southern United States Confidence: 69% Arrow up

The Southern United States, commonly referred to as the American South, Dixie, or simply the South, is a region of the United States of America.

The South does not fully match the geographic south of the United States, but the Deep South is fully located in the southeastern corner.

Arizona and New Mexico, which are geographically in the southern part of the country, are rarely considered part, while West Virginia, which separated from Virginia in 1863, commonly is.

Some scholars have proposed definitions of the South that do not coincide neatly with state boundaries.

While the states of Delaware and Maryland, as well as the District of Columbia permitted slavery prior to the start of the Civil War, they remained with the Union.

Since the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, they became more culturally, economically, and politically aligned with the industrial Northern states, and are often identified as part of the Mid-Atlantic and/or Northeast by many residents, businesses, public institutions, and private organizations.

However, the United States Census Bureau puts them in the South.
